Weekly Roundup

Lots of lovely things happening in school this week;

  • As part of their topic this term on the Rainforest, Year 5 are growing mini rainforests using plastic bottles to create a warm and damp ecosystem.
  • Mr Jones has announced that the TT Rockstars 'Battle of the Bands' will soon be live, where each class battles it out to be the fastest band with the most correct Times Tables. There is now a TT Rockstars app which the children can download for easier access.
  • Another sporting accolade - AVSSP hosted a cross country competition on Thursday afternoon at Alfreton Park, and Riddings Junior sent 20 children. The Races were split into years 3/4 girls and boys and years 5/6 girls and boys with 60 runners in each race. Eddie S came first for the y3/4 boys and Ava C for the y5/6 girls, all the other children placed extremely well making Riddings the overall champions by just 2 points! The weather was appalling - wet windy and cold, which made the children's achievements all the better - and thank you to the many parents who provided transport and stuck out the weather to stay and cheer on all the children.
  • Year 5 have had a busy week, and have also designed and made stained glass windows in RE, whilst studying religion through art. Their designs are hanging up in the conservatory, see if you can sport them when you come for your parents evening appointment next week.
