St. John's Ealing

This weeks roundup

A blustery wet week, but we've managed to get the children out to play almost every day,

  • Year 5 visited Derby Open Centre on Wednesday morning learning about art across the world, and took part in a calligraphy workshop. They also visited  the Derby Jamia Mosque to look at the artwork on display there and how it forms part of Muslim life.
  • Year 4 came 1st in the AVSSP tennis competition on Thursday afternoon and came 1st - fantastic effort by all, some of whom had never played tennis before!
  • Year 4 have been mummifying tomatoes as part of their year 4 topic on ancient Egypt.
  • Red nose day on Friday, and we've had lots going off in school to raise money:
    • We've sold 240 red noses in 3 days!
    • Children have been coming to school today in brightly coloured clothing - they all looked fantastic, lots of brightly coloured hair too!
    • We held a bake sale a breaktime - thank you to all of our parents for the lovely donations of cakes & treats
    • We've managed to raise nearly £600 in total - go Riddings!
