Preparing for June 1st - Information for Yr 6 Parents/Carers
Arrival and departure arrangements for year 6 - june 1st
CHANGES TO PROPOSED YEAR 6 PROVISION - JUNE 1ST
Following significant work to establish clear guidance on whether or not 2 metre social distancing should be applied (as far as is practicable) in schools we have now received guidance from Derbyshire Local Authority. This states that;
"Everyone is a minimum of 2 metres apart and where 2 metre social distancing cannot be achieved, the number of pupils will be reduced."
As a result our Year 6 group sizes will be reduced from our initial proposal of 15 - as you know our classrooms are small and to maintain 2m social distancing Year 6 groups will be restricted to 8 children plus staff per room.
This does not change our intention to welcome back all Year 6 children on June 1st but it has of course blown a significant part of our planning out of the water. It had been my intention to get timings and further details to you today however this will now be postponed until next week. This may delay you from finalising your own plans but you will understand that I have to ensure that we safely manage the children and staff's return to school.
If this changes your decision or you haven't let us know whether or not your child will be returning on June 1st please remember that today (May 21st) is the deadline.
