Lesson 5: Improper fractions to mixed numbers (worksheet and answers)
Watch until 4m 56s or until it asks you to complete question 1 and 2 and then stop (we will carry on tomorrow). Complete question 1 and 2 on the WRH worksheet. Then work through these questions. Begin by writing the improper fractions that is shown as a shape then convert it into a mixed number (answers)
An improper fraction is a fraction in which the numerator (top number) is greater than the denominator (bottom number). Work through the lesson to practise turning improper fractions into mixed numbers.

Continue watching the lesson from 4m 56s to continue working on converting improper fractions to mixed numbers. Once you have finished, work through the rest of the worksheet (question 3-7). Then, if you are confident, move on to these reasoning and problem solving questions (answers).

Ensure you have covered all of the previous learning about Brazil and that you have made notes on the padlet to update us with everything you know and any fun facts you have learnt! To access the padlet, go to this link and the password is Riddings (with a capital R!).
Once you have done this, use your previous work on Scratch (Lost in Space unit) to create your own rainforest themed animation. Use the coding from the space unit to help you. You might have birds flying across the sky or frogs leaping across the ground. If you have made an account and saved it, feel free to post a link to your animation on the Google Classroom stream.

Lesson 1: Mixed numbers to improper fractions (worksheet and answers)
Today you will be working on the inverse (the opposite) of Monday and Tuesday's learning! Yesterday you worked on converting improper fractions to mixed numbers but today you are going to start with the mixed numbers and convert these to improper fractions. Complete the WRH worksheet and then if you want extra practise complete these worksheets and answers. Make sure you are confident before moving on tomorrow!

This week English is going to split into Writing and Reading, the UoL project at the bottom of this page is extra learning if you want to give it a go!
Writing - Talk for writing booklet
Read through pages 1-3 of The Ultimate Guide to Elves and Sprites. Then complete these activities in your booklet:
Activity 1 - there may be words in the text that you didn't understand. Go through the matching vocabulary to the definition activity to help you. Once you have done this, go back and read the text again. You might even want to create a vocab flap
Activity 2 - draw a cave elf. Use the text to help you and label each picture with evidence from the text.
Activity 3 - Use the text to help you identify on the map where cave elves live - remember to use evidence from the text!
Reading
For our reading lessons, you will need your Kensuke Kingdom book and reading booklet that goes with it.
Today, have a go at the 'I wonders' and questions on Page 2 of your booklet. Then read Chapter 1 in your book.
We started reading and looking at this book together in school, we are going to carry on with it now.

Lesson 2: Number sequences (worksheet and answers)
Watch to 6m 12s.
Today we will be learning to count in fractions. Remember, when we are writing a number sequence we have to identify the steps we are counting in (eg. are we counting in steps of 2? 10? 500?) so we will need to identify the steps in terms of fractions. Complete the WRH worksheet above (questions 1-3) then complete Challenge 1 (Q. 1, 2, 3) and Challenge 2 (Q1). If you are feeling confident, why not try Challenge 3 (answers)? The rest of the lesson will continue tomorrow.

Writing - Talk for writing booklet
Using pages 1,2 and 3 of your booklet, have a go at these activities:
Activity 4 - Design a cave elf's menu - what would they like to eat?
Activity 5 - What's in a cave elf's knapsack? What provisions (supplies) would a cave elf buy and put in their rucksack? Can you make your list detailed and descriptive like the example in your booklet?
Activity 6 - Magpie openers and useful words - Add the words you would like to use from the report into the wordbank in your booklet. You'll need your VIP skills to pick out the Very Important Parts of the text!
Reading
For today's reading lesson, have a go at the activities on Pages 3 - 7. Use Chapter 1 of your Kensuke's Kingdom book to help you.

Continue watching yesterday's lesson from WRH from 6m 12s and then continue with question 4 onwards on the WRH. Then move on to these questions and answers. If you want extra practise at fraction number sequences complete Challenge 2 (Q2 and 3) first. Then check your answers.
Friday Five - Assess your understanding of this week's learning by completing the Friday Five. If you found any of these tricky, perhaps go back to that lesson and work through the online video again. Alternatively, you can complete this through Google Classroom.
